Jenn had been so patient while waiting for her baby boy to arrive this summer. She has the most gorgeous little girl and had been busy preparing for his arrival the last few months. With her first, I knew that she was a little late with her arrival, and her little guy had decided to arrive a little over due too. On the day of his birth, Jenn's water had broke in the early morning hours on a cloudy June day, and she made it to the hospital shortly after. When I arrived at the hospital to meet her, Jenn had been working away with her contractions and already had a solid support team there to help her get through them. Her husband was right by her side the entire time, as well as her mother, and her sister who was expecting her own first baby. As I photographed her, I came to learn that Jenn had needed a cesarean section because of concerns for her baby. It was not what Jenn had hoped or planned for this birth, but she was incredibly brave and was prepared to do whatever she needed to do for the safe delivery of her baby. Her husband was there with her holding her hand through the contractions as they went down to the operating room. Shortly after Jacob was born, the nurses had taken him to his daddy in the waiting area, so he was able to meet his new baby boy. He was absolutely adorable!
Not too long after, Jenn was awake and able to return to her room to meet her baby boy and finally hold him in her arms. You could see the instant bond formed between momma and her baby. It was beautiful.
The next day, their daughter came to the hospital to meet her baby brother, and their family was finally complete. It was such a beautiful moment to witness. Congratulations to the Blommaert family! He is perfect!

Once they were ready, Amanda and Sean decided to see each other before the ceremony, and met with their wedding party to witness his first glance of the bride. It was such a special moment for the both of them, and I could really see how much love they have for each other.
The ceremony took place at a nearby garden, and it was beautiful, but also a very hot summer day! After the ceremony, we then hit some nearby areas for some fun photos, before returning to the hotel for the reception. There was a delicious meal, followed by some great stories shared about the couple. Then the dancing was started by the couple's son, Landon and his cousin, and it wasn't long before the rest of the party joined in! Congrats to the happy couple, & thanks for letting me be a part of your special day!
Baby Frances was such a doll for her session - She was so adorably sweet!! Once she got into a nice deep sleep, she was pretty content with all of her family photos, and her family photos turned out to be some of my favorites! Her mama was absolutely stunning! One thing that was unique for this session was that it was my first newborn session with a live guitar playing just outside on the front steps of my home. Her father and big brother just happen to both be very talented musicians, so she was lulled to sleep listening to them play some amazing Beatles tunes. It was an awesome day! Congratulations Lindsay, Marty & Noah on your new addition to your family! She's so beautiful!

This was Christina's second child, and when she emailed me to tell me that she was very eager to meet her baby girl just a week before her due date, I knew her baby would be here very soon. On the night she was born, I had just finished getting my own children to bed when she sent me a text message to let me know that her labour had begun just moments ago, and she was already en route to the hospital. I was beginning to think maybe I should begin to make my way to the hospital when I received a call from her husband that she was already fully dilated. I ran out of my house and into the car before I could barely even say goodbye to him on the phone.
I was able to get to the hospital quickly, and lucky for me, she was not quite as far along as I expected. I was so happy I was able to get some beautiful labouring photos for Christina. She rocked and hugged her husband throughout her contractions, and even labored on her hands and knees in bed for a portion of her labour. She breathed, deeply and slowly, right through those contractions. As they became stronger, she breathed even stronger. Her husband was so attentive to her needs and held her hand and encouraged her through the contractions. It was so beautiful to watch them work together as a team. It was not even an hour that I was there, before Christina's labour intensified and she began pushing. Baby Hayley was born face-up which is quite rare. It was incredible for mama to be able to see her baby's face before she was even fully born. Her mama did an incredible job of bringing her into the world. As soon as she held her baby for the first time, I could see pure joy, happiness and relief wash over her as she gazed at her sweet little bundle.
The next day, I came back to the hospital to capture big sister, Hayden meeting her baby sister for the first time. She was absolutely adorable checking out all of her little sisters hands, toes, and face. Such a special and sweet moment! Congratulations to Christina, Patrick & Hayden on the arrival of little Hayley. She is so beautiful!

Chelsea had first let me know her contractions were beginning only a couple hours earlier that afternoon. It was 5:30 pm when I arrived at their home, and when I pulled up I could see my sweetest little niece and nephew, waiting outside for me on the porch. There was an overwhelming feeling of excitement and joy in the air that cold February night. The kids were playing, laughing and running around, and at even such young ages, I think they both knew they were about to meet their little sibling very soon. After a sweet little cuddle with mommy, they soon headed to their grandparents' house down the street to have a fun evening with them so mama could focus on bringing their new baby sibling into the world.
Chelsea swayed and breathed through every contraction with her husband James near her side, every step of the way. As her labour progressed, her swaying quickened and breathing intensified, but not once did she loose her control or her sense of complete and total trust in her body. Between every contraction, smiles and laughter filled the room. There were these gorgeous bouquets of tulips arranged around the room, and little red hearts on the windows for Valentine's Day. It was the perfect night for a birth.
After labouring for a few short hours, her midwives had arrived with many suitcases full of equipment. They quickly set up, and monitored mama and her little one as the night progressed. They were amazing and very attentive to Chelsea and her baby. By 8:35 pm, Chelsea & James welcomed their third baby into the world. It was such a peaceful and beautiful night. They were able to rest in bed shortly after and soak in their new little newborn while some fresh zucchini bread warmed in the oven. A short while later, the rest of the family joined them and came to meet little Hanna for the first time. It was such a special moment to witness big brother greeting his newest sister, and little sister now becoming a big sister. I feel truly honored to capture another birth for my sister, Chelsea and her family.
Congratulations to Chelsea, James & family! And, welcome to the family to my littlest niece, Hanna. xo
